I walked into Hillary's Dubuque Office the day after Christmas morning unsure of what to expect. The walls here are decorated with "Hillary for President" signs, newspaper articles, and snapshots of Hillary with local people from Dubuque. As soon as I walked into the office, I was welcomed and thanked for volunteering my time to suppor such a great cause. After I was introduced to everyone, I was put to work. I was given a caller list of Democrats in Dubuque County, and was told to ask each person if they were going to the caucus on January 3rd, and if they were supporting Hillary. Many people were undecided, many hung up on me, but there were quite a few people that were excited to get a call from Hillary's campaign. They were thrilled to share their support for Hillary and were eager to let me know that they were going to caucus for Hillary.
At around 5:30 the entire office (probably 20 volunteers and staffers around my age and older) gathered around the phone for a national conference call. We listened to a few staff members speak and then Hillary Clinton got on the phone. It was great to hear her in person, and reure my beliefs that she is the best Democratic candidate in the running. There are rumors that Hillary will be in town before the caucus next Thursday, I hope I get the chance to meet her!
I made calls from 1:30 pm when I arrived until 9:00 pm, when the phone banks closed. Tomorrow my hours are from 10:00 am through 9:00 pm. Although this isn't the most difficult or intellectualy challenging job I could be doing, it is satisfying knowing that I am volunteering for the next President of the United States!
