Six days until the Iowa Caucus, and the Hillary Office here in Dubuque is humming like a fine tuned machine. Every once in a while the noise jumps to a higher level on the decibel scale (usually due to good news), but for the most part all you can hear is the ten (or so) people making calls to potential caucus goers. Today the usual routine was interrupted by a vivacious and welcomed visitor, Mr. Terry McAuliffe. He brought the entire office lunch (and even brought some vegetarian options for those who do not eat meat). Terry also gave away a copy of his book to everyone who wanted one, but not without signing it and talking to you for a bit. He also took a picture with me!
This is a little story that was told to us by one of our Hillary Precinct Capitans who happened to be at the restaurant that Terry ate at later that evening. He walks into a well-known little place in Dubuque, called the Village Inn, and announces to the entire room that he, Terry McAuliffe, is asking them to caucus for Hillary Clinton. Unless you meet Terry in person, it is difficult to understand the magnetic personality he posses. You like this guy the second you meet him, and he is the kind of person that we desperately need in the Democratic Party. Terry has this contagious energy that radiates from every pore, and he really makes you excited to be a democrat.
In other news, I am meeting Hill Stars from all around the country. I know someone from Utah, Florida, Wisconsin, Indiana, California, Ohio, a few people from New York, and probably many other places that I am forgetting now. I am not volunteering for Hillary for the networking, but it doesn’t hurt!
